How do I upgrade & migrate from 1.0 to 2.0

Rick Lee (611) | asked Jul 06 '09, 2:25 p.m.
We have RTC 1.0 Standard running on a Windows server, and its SQL database is running on a seperate, common, SQL server.

I need to upgrade to 2.0, and am looking for the most efficient method. Combining RTC Server and SQL onto the same system is not an option.

In our development environment I have been running the reptools -export command (on the RTC server) to export the database, which is about 3.5GB, and it has been running for over 3 hours and the tar file is only 600MB so far. How long will this take running across the network? Our production environment has an 18.5GB database, and I can't have a couple of days downtime.

Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

You will get MUCH better performance if repotools is installed on and
run from the same machine as the database.

Thanks, but how do I install and configure only the reptools on the SQL server?

You'll have to install the entire RTC server product. Since this is
just a temporary installation for running repotools, you might find it
easier to just use the zip download (which is only ~190 MB).

Once it's unzipped, you need only edit the teamserver.properties to
point to your database, put the SQL Server JDBC jar under the
server/sqlserver directory, and you're ready to run repotools.
