Display DOORS NG data in DOORS 9.5

Ben Sharples (813360) | asked Apr 01 '15, 3:23 a.m.
I have requirements data in both DOORS NG and DOORS 9.5. Is it possible to use DXL to interrogate the collaboration links and then display the DOORS NG data in a layout dxl column?

Basically want similar capability as analysis wizard to show linked requirement information.

The exact functionality isn't available, but I expect you could do the following:
1. Create links between DOORS objects and DNG artifacts; Show the links to artfiacts in DNG in their own column in DOORS [A]
2. Use ReqIF to bring the data into DOORS, then use native DOORS features to display them.
3. Explore using the Rational Engineering Lifecycle Manager (RELM) to display both DOORS and related DOORS NG information

[A] If you plan to use the new configuration management capabilities in DOORS NG currently in the 6.0 beta, then (1) probably isn't your best choice. Once artifacts in DOORS NG are being used in multiple streams and baselines, the links to DOORS 9 will be a lot trickier to maintain correctly.
[B] See the blog or your favorite search engine for more info; also track progress by the Jazz Report Service Report Builder team to support DOORS data (DOORS NG data already supported).

In point 2 are you suggesting that I create a copy of the DNG Data in my DOORS Database? - surely that goes against the concept of linked data.

Looking at the Config Beta - currently I'm using the RTC Change Integration in DOORS to manage changes to my system requirements however from a testing perspective holding the test requirements in DNG is better as the Requirements Widgets and reports don't work so well with DOORS Data as the source.
