IDE vs p2 installs = confusion

Mahari Hill (4861169230) | asked Mar 30 '15, 2:01 p.m.
All,

With the exception of when installing the p2 version "fixes something", what is the difference in using the 502 Eclipse IDE install vs using the p2 install Repository?

I have users with RSA (8.x and 9.x) and other users with Eclipse Kepler and Luna looking to install RTC immediately.

the p2 is used to install into an existing eclipse environment, and the Eclipse IDE is the  clean install when you have nothing.. IBM has already installed the P2 into the base Eclipse environment.

sometimes the P2 install is 'easier' cause u are just adding RTC plugins (and their dependencies) to a running environment.. sometimes you get conflicts..

I've had to use both approaches over the years to get the environment I want..

java, web, perl, salesforce and rtc is a handful. can't get android to work on top of all that.
