work item template from plan

I'm in a plan (RTC version 5.0.2) .  Can I create a work item using a work item template from within that plan?  I only see "Create Work Item", "Create Child Work Item" from the context menu and "Add Work Item" on the button on the plan.  But there is no option to select a template.

No, there is no option to create work items from template in a plan.
The below enhancement request(RFE) has some suggestion to achieve the same as you want, you may want to give it a try. You can comment in the RFE as well to vote for it.
