How can I add a button to a specific view in the RTC web client?

I am on a team that just switched from Rally to RTC for task management among other things. This was a great step in the right direction. However, there is one feature RTC lacks that Rally has, and that is the ability to print simplified plain info user stories and tasks that are notecard sized. We use these for swim lanes that we have on a white board.

I am developing a simple web app that will login to the server, gather the task/user story information based on a query using the Plain Java API and generate these notecard sized simplified story/task summaries in HTML. This is not difficult. However, if I could go one step further, I would just add a button to the run query page in the RTC web client that does this automatically based on the results of the query that was run.

Is this possible? (And if so, how/where could I find info on it?)

I have not done that, however there are extension points for the Web UI. See: https://jazz.net/library/LearnItem.jsp?href=content/docs/web-ui-programming/index.html

You could try to use a custom editor presentation to make a button: https://jazz.net/wiki/bin/view/Main/ContributingAttributePresentationsV2

This might be interesting as well: https://jazz.net/forum/questions/86628/is-it-possible-to-create-ui-extension-for-rtc-web-client

Please see my answer here as well and vote for the work item, if you like: https://jazz.net/forum/questions/86329/add-custom-button-or-image-on-rtc-ui/117840

If you figure this out, it would be great if you could share this,

Good Morning Michael,

Just wondering why the print outs and how they help?  Plan views can be very flexible and powerful.. if you have a late version of RTC

Just to ask - Does the Plan view with some configuration not give you what you require?  You can customise the plan view but not sure that gives you exactly what you want.

Not use a plan view on a large screen to do the same activities...
