Ask a question

Is there an inclusive list somewhere of what characters or strings unacceptable in RTC attachement names ?

We are on RTC 4.0.6 on Windows and use Tasktop 3.6.5 to sync between RTC and QC 11.50.

We found TaskTop sync would not sync attachments with names containing + % or " - " (note that "-", " -" and "- " are OK) to the RTC so far.

Is this RTC ?

Is there a list of these characters or strings so we know exactly what to avoid ?

We noted this:

Fix list for Rational Lifecycle Integration Adapters Tasktop Edition

22664

The QC connector now checks for invalid characters like % and + in attachment names and informs the user about the problem before trying to sync these attachments.

and wonder how this relates to our case ? What to use and how to use it to help with this issue ?

This is the right answer, but I cannot pick my own.

Normally when Tasktop cannot sync due to invalid attachment name, it give a generic HTTP 500 error, but when certain conditions are met, it would give better, more precise error message with the actual invalid name(s) and also the list of all (presumably) the offending  chars:

File name cannot contain any of the following: \/:*?"<>|{}%+.

Stand to be corrected: This is the list of the chars that TasktopSync does not like in attachment names. At least + is accepted by both RTC and QC in attachment names.
