Sending email based of work flow status in RTC

 We want RTC to send email to a group mail box when a Work Item is in a special status.
The members of the targeted group mail box may or may not be a member of RTC project area.  Is this possible?

You can write and deploy a Server-Side plugin that, on change to the special status, could send an email to whomever you want using the RTC mail service (assuming mail services are enabled).
