RTC v4.0.0.1 - Import/Export

Asheesh Sangamneheri (612) | asked Aug 19 '14, 11:31 a.m.
I would like to move a project and its artifacts from one server to another. I understand it is not possible to export/import  project. But as a work around, would it be possible to export work items (user stories, task, defects, comments, sprints, etc) from an one project and import them to a new project?

What work items can be exported/imported?
What data would be lost?
How do you do it?

 Hello,
you can bulk move work items using  https://jazz.net/wiki/bin/view/Main/BulkMoveWorkItemsBetweenProjectAreasInRTC4
for RTC 4.0

Install a dedicated 4.0 Eclipse Client, install the above plugin,
and connect to your 4.0.0.1 server to bulk move work items.

Hope it helps,
Eric

 Hi Eric,

Thanks for replying.

How does one export/import other project artifacts - plans, reports, builds, timelines, etc?

Regards,
Ash

 well - not easy Ash.

timelines could be extracted in process template,
but for plans, builds... not possible I think.
SCM resources could be checked-out, unlinked from current repo,
and re-loaded to new repo.

Thanks! That's the impression I get from reading through some of the posts here.. its not easy and/or perfect. Which seems a flaw in the product architecture, as I am sure everyone will encounter this requirement at some stage.
