Is there an issue by simply adding com.ibm.team.scm.enable.distributed=true to ccm/teamserver.properties ?

We are trying to enable distributed SCM in CCM.  However, after setting the value to true and then clicking on save, we get the error, "Invalid registry object, org.eclipse.core.runtime.InvalidRegistryObjectException, etc ..."

We found https://jazz.net/forum/questions/157677/invalid-registry-object-updating-ccm-properties and found Lily Wang's  reply in it indicating that there is a bug https://jazz.net/jazz/web/projects/Jazz%20Foundation#action=com.ibm.team.workitem.viewWorkItem&id=314907

Looks like the workaround is to simply add "com.ibm.team.scm.enable.distributed=true" to ccm/teamserver.properties.  Can someone confirm that we can simply do this without causing a side-effect to CCM ?  Do we need to restart CCM for this to take effect or is the change instantaneous ?

Jeff,

I have done that (Just add the property to the properties file) in the past and it worked for me. I have however done those changes usually when the server was down. I am not aware that you can make the server reload the properties. There might be a way, and I am just not aware of it, though.

Hi Jeff,
I have also encountered this issue in the past. See this technote: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21673405
