Where are the version id's stored?

Is the new version id function in RTC 5 strictly a database attribute or is the id "baked" into the actual code? We used version id's extensively in ClearCase. The id was in the file itself, even compiled into the executable.  Then you could extract the string from a file in production to easily identify what was out there, if there was a question.

The recommended approach is creating a snapshot of the release. When you have a deployment of your project, you can look up the snapshot of the release and see the version. If you would like this new feature to be considered, please open an RFE using the link below: http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/execute?use_case=submitRfe&BRAND_ID=1&PROD_FAM_ID=244&PROD_ID=435&PRESELECT_DROPDOWNS=true The submission of an RFE then triggers a review of the request by the RFE review board to determine how the request fits into our planning backlog.

Version IDs are strictly a database attribute that can be seen when viewing the file history.
