Hi All

Currently, we are updating the work packets manually and these are updated with a % complete based on the progress of children tasks.

Can we automate % completion in Work Packet on hours complete in the children tasks compared against the estimate?  Can we automate work packet completion figure?

There is some roll-up of child information available in plans. The "Package" work item type needs to be checked (as plan item) in the Process Configuration>Project Configuration>Configuration Data>Planning>Work Item Type Categorization for this to work.

If you need attributes on the work item however, this provides a possible approach: https://rsjazz.wordpress.com/2012/07/31/rtc-update-parent-duration-estimation-and-effort-participant/

It is an extension/follow up action as Sam suggests.

nothing provided with the product. Mostly because it is assumed the estimate is not completely correct..
one could write an extension that tried to implement this behavior
