test case categories permission

Rajat Singh (59833545) | asked Mar 05 '14, 8:52 a.m.
Hi Team I have created a couple of test case categories in RQM.
These categories have sub fields:
Example: Category 1-> Subcategory 1 and Subcategory 2.

Now we use this category on our excel format to upload test cases.

Is there a way to restrict the user from uploading any  other subcategory other than subcategory defined above.

Say I have Subcategory 3. The tool should give an error that this field is not defined in RQM test case category.

Best Regards
Rajat

Hi Rajat,

If you do not grant the users "Create category" permission (from project area administration Permission > Quality Manager > Save category), when users import test cases from Excel to RQM, new category or subcategory will not be created in RQM. But the new test cases will still be imported and no error reported.

Thanks Lily.
Could you tell me whats the difference between 'Create Category' and 'Create Category Value'.

Best Regards
Rajat

That's the different permission. Please see about the explanation of category, subcategory and category value.
