jts and ccm logs not longer written

Georg Kellner (840376107) | asked Jan 24 '14, 4:29 a.m.
Hi fellows,
some month ago we've changed one of our JAZZ server to run the tomcat as a service.

Since this day, the logs in \IBM\JazzTeamServer3015\server\logs are not longer written.
The Tomcat logs in \IBM\JazzTeamServer3015\server\tomcat\logs are fine.

Environment: JTS&RTC 3.0.1.5
OS: w2k3 R2
Any hintes?

greetings georg.

Hi George

If the path is not set as Sumant mentions above, then take a look at <JAZZ_HOME>\server\tomcat\bin ... There are few folders created here and some of the logs would be written here once Tomcat is running as a service.

Hello Georg

I believe you haven't provided the path for the logs when you set Tomcat to run as service?

 ****

If you do not provide paths for the log files, the log files will be written to JazzInstallDir\server\tomcat\bin\logs.

 Is this the case?

Hello,

when you run the server from the startup script, (server.startup.bat) the script sets the location of log4j.properties files: set JAVA_OPTS=%JAVA_OPTS% -Dlog4j.configuration=file:///%PATH_URL%conf/startup_log4j.properties and passes it as a parameter to the JVM.

You need to make sure you include a similar parameter in your service configuration, as the server.startup script is not process when running as a service.

And how could this look like?
Somehow like this?
Service configuration
Path to executable:
...\server\tomcat\bin\tomcat5.exe //RS//tomcat5 -Dlog4j.configuration=file:///D:/IBM/JazzTeamServer3015/server/conf/startup_log4j.properties

greetings georg.
