Custom Work Item Naming Conventions

John Doran (9182) | asked Feb 26 '09, 5:03 p.m.
Hello,

I am wondering if there are any conventions for naming the different items involved when creating a custom work item.

I did see that the Category Names do have a convention.

https://jazz.net/wiki/bin/view/Main/JazzNaming

A. If I create my own category, should it be something like

com.ibm.team.workitem.workItemType.example

B. Would I replace com.ibm.team with my own company's URL?

C. What about the ids for editor presentations, custom attributes, tabs, etc related to custom work items. Do they have a convention?

Hi
There is no explicit naming convention but reflecting what we have now for RTC I would use B, prepend anything that you contribute or configure with your company namespace, e.g. use

com.company.something.workitemType as type category and similar to when creating a tab or editor.

That way it is always clear who contributed/configured something.
