Share file in root of sandbox

Using the Visual Studio client, I have a component that is loaded directly into the root of the sandbox so that the sandbox contains files and the sub folders of the component.  How can I add a new file within the root of the sandbox to my component?  I see where I can "share" a folder within the Sandbox Explorer view, but it does not give me the option to share an individual file.

Sandbox
\.jazz5
\SubFolder01
\SubFolder02
\File01.txt
\File02.txt
\NewFile.txt
I can add this file using the CLI or web interface, but I don't see a way to do it within the Visual Studio client.
