Planned effort for TestCases in the TestPlan

Georg Kellner (840378108) | asked Oct 25 '13, 5:15 a.m.
Hi fellows,

in the Summary section of TestPlans there is the TestCase Execution (Record) Progress.
This sums up the effort for the TCERs I think.

Is it possible to switch it to the effort of the TestCases itself?

We think this is necessary in the first planing phase, if no TCERs are created, but the management wants to know, how much time testing will take.

greetings georg.

Hello Georg,

There are many variants to address this topic.
But first it makes sense to understand, how your whole planning approach is?
How will you use timelines and iterations?

You should separate for the test case question mainly in two sections:

  • a)      Define the test case

In this case, if you want to reflect the state defining the test case, you should use the state.
This would be the best option to reflect the progress of the definition, for the “not planned for execution” test cases.

  • b)      Execute test case

That the test case execution planning is clearly done with test case execution records.
Here you should create at least one execution record for a test case.
