Translate process template, possible maintenance issues?

Fredrik Lindqvist (323) | asked Oct 14 '13, 6:29 a.m.

We are currently discussing using the default RTC Scrum process template, but translating all work items to swedish to better correspond to existing processes.

I am worried that this will cause issues with maintenance and with upgrades. Have anyone done something like this and have experiences to share?

Such as, what happens with our translated template at an upgrade?

If the default template is changed, can we easily incorporate those changes to our template?

If we go further and translate all fields and values, will that cause more issues?

 Hello Fredrik,

You may also:
1 - create a Project Area from OOTB Template - SCRUM
2 - proceed wit translation
3 - once translation is complete, extract a new Process Template from you Project Area

Hope it helps,
Eric

I've submitted work item Provide (or document) a mechanism for merging custom translations of a Process Template into later versions of the Template (285167) for this.  The wiki page  https://jazz.net/wiki/bin/view/Main/TranslateProcessDescriptionOfPrecannedProcessTemplate describes what to do with the process description text, but we need corresponding guidance for the rest of the process template.
