scm cmdline - do we really need the full RTC client install
Hi
I know the commandline scm tools are available when you install the RTC Eclipse client. Can you get away with *not* installing the full RTC client and still be able to use the commandline? If you can - how do you install the cmdline only bits? By way of explanation, we want the commandline on various (supported and unsupported) *nix platforms. thanks anthony |

Hi Anthony,
It is currently not possible using the IM install to install only the scm commandline tools. However, I believe the scm commandline tools are a self-contained rcp app. So, if you started by just downloading the zip version of the client and extracting somewhere you could 'install' it on the other platforms by just copying the scmtools directory to them (perhaps that is what you are doing already...). -James Jazz Foundation Team kesterto wrote: Hi |
Hello, Thanks for the reply - I was watching your thread with interest but didn't realise we were trying to do the same thing. I will definitely try this out. anthony |
Hello,
The way I've done it was to install the RTC Client on either Windows or Linux and then simply zip up the scmtools directory. I then take this zip to the *nix box, unzip and run using the scripts in this thread: https://jazz.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3407&highlight=scmtools |
