CLM: How to change the default settings for mail notifications for each user

Judith Leick (8156) | asked Aug 22 '13, 6:07 a.m.
Dear All,

one of my current customers would like to change the default mail notification settings for e.g. updates on work items.

I know that this can be changed for each user separately. Per default all kind of mail notifications are enabled. My customer wants to set the default to lesser notifications.

Is there any chance to do this?

Many thanks!
Regards
Judith

Judith, Please see: https://jazz.net/forum/questions/101714/is-there-a-way-to-set-the-email-notification-preferences-for-a-group-of-users for the "Default" and a work item to change the default.

As far as I am aware, backed by other comments, there is no way to change the default settings that are being applied in the server. You can add your interest to the work item.

As long as this is not implemented the only way I see is using some automation e.g. as described in : https://jazz.net/forum/questions/99007/how-to-change-the-default-settings-in-mail-configuration that changes the user default after creating the user. This could run in the background and - for new users found - set the values to a more sensible default.

Some users want even more e-mail traffic and requested more triggers. This can also done with extensions.

Automation like that can be done by the customer, by services (Time And Material, no support) or by a dedicated team we have that does this with support at a higher price tag.

there is no builtin function that will let u se the email settings for more than one user at a time.

in my prior job, I wrote a java application that changed the settings for all users in a specified list.
we specifically used it to turn off notifications as we manipulated workitems as part of our project configuration upgrade process.

Hi Lauren,

I saw this before, but this doesn't help. I'm looking for a standard solution. Is there any chance to get it done as enhancement request?
