does anyone know the procedure for implementing client certificate authentication in tomcat ?

Some documents like https://jazz.net/library/article/606/ explain how to configure WAS and CLM to use client certificate authentication.
But I can't find an equivalent procedure for tomcat.
Is client certificate authentication a valid and supported configuration and can someone share the procedure to use do that ?
