How to add workflow “state” work item query condition and how is “state” referenced through the product?

Michael Taylor (8865764) | asked Jun 26 '13, 8:44 a.m.

The available work item Query conditions don’t seem to list the State field.  It lists a “Status” field.  Is “Status” the same as “State”?  If not, how do we query based on State?

The editor presentation header seems to list the “State”.  There it calls it “Workflow State”.

In the work item Reportable REST API, it seems to call the field “state”.

Are all these fields (query condition “Status”, editor presentation “Workflow State”, Reportable REST API “state”) referring to the same data element?  Is work item “state” referred to with a consistent name throughout the product?

I'm not sure about the REST API thing, but "Status" in the query editor does refer to the workflow state:

The name is not consistent, because workitem editor only shows an arbitrary label of an attribute, not the attribute name, I suppose.
