I am using RQM 3.0.1
Test execution report:
The status of the Test execution based on the Test suites(not on Test cases) created
Test progress report:
The status of the Test execution based on the date of execution
Defect Summary report:
The status of the Defects created based on the Functionality linked to it.

For some more advanced reporting help, check out the CLM Reporting Workshop. It has some great examples and walks you through creation of your own reports.
RQM provides some Out Of Box BIRT Reports which you can access from Reports-> Shared Reports tab.
But there are no canned reports based off Test suites in 3.0.1 version. They were added in version 4.0.
You can author your own reports using RRDI, more information can be found in 3.0.1 Infocenter-- http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/clmhelp/v3r0m1/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.rational.rr.usage.doc%2Ftopics%2Fc_authoring_reports.html
As for Defects summary report, depends on what tool you are using for Defect Tracking.
If using RTC, then you can check if any Out Of Box BIRT reports meet your needs or use RRDI.
But if using Clearquest or other tools, you will need to use Insight for authoring reports.
See the documentation--http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/clmhelp/v3r0m1/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.rational.rcpr.help.doc%2Ftopics%2Ft_upgrade_rrdi102_to_ri1011.html

Hi Vidya,
The links that you provided to the information center don't seem to be working as they are formatted in your post. I'm reposting the links here:
