Hi Chris - you should speak to your local IBM contact, they should be able to arrange licenses for your test/staging environment as long as it is used just for that - testing a setup - and not for production work.  There is also a plan for people who want licenses for a DR environment - they need to work with their IBM sales or tech contact to get this sorted out.

For a staging server you would often make a copy of the database from production and then import that database into the staging environment. Then you would have to perform a server rename, since the two servers cannot have the same FQDN.

We did a staging server for our last project. To be able to do that we had to apply for a special license for the server rename. In that agreement it is agreed that the staging server can be used as a non-production server and therefore you're allowed to use the same license keys as for the production server.

However we had to contact support to open a PMR and also agree to some separate terms of the server rename license.

@Chris Each environment would need licenses for users to login.

You could use the free 10 licenses provided or the Trial ones for the test/staging environment.

@sandyg,

Part of our staging test is that our existing licenses can be installed, and are being assigned to users correctly.  It would be ideal if we could use our purchased licenses for the upgrade testing.
