Create Customized report from Query Result

I was looking for creating customize report from work item query result. I am trying to create a simple report of open vs closed and total inventory chart. One of the way i found on jazz.net to use BIRT. However video i found was referring to RTC 2.0. It seems like table names and related things have changed and i can't find as explained in the video. so can anyone guide on BIRT based report or any other way to do it.

Thats like fullbook aren't sample type things for Query based reports? and is BIRT only option ?

There is one called "Open vs Closed Work Items". Would this one fulfill your needs?

Do you want your report to be displayed on RTC? If yes, you have to use BIRT. If not, you can export your query to EXCEL and use its reporting capability.
