RTC and RDz

Jan Van de Poel (2413216) | asked Nov 24 '08, 6:09 a.m.
Does anybody have some experience with regards to RDz and RTC? Moreover I am wondering whether to position RTC or RTCz. Would it be an idea to use RTC on a x86 client/server and later push the code towards the mainframe, or use RTCz on the server...

Jan,

Unfortunately, RDz currently manages development of z/OS artifacts using a
remote resource (or artifact) scheme.which Rational Team Concert isn't
designed to handle yet. Therefore, you may find that using the RTC SCM
and build features out of the box for RDz artifacts is not as
straightforward as it is for local eclipse projects. Your customer can
start using the collaboration, planning, process and change management
features in Team Concert but they'll have to wait until a future release
to use SCM and build features for remote RDz artifacts.
Note that RDz also supports artifacts in local eclipse projects for
certain types of applications. Those can be used with RTC now.
Just curious, what type of SCM and build infrastructure does your customer
use today?

Yes,

we are looking into assisting a client with their RDz development, in order to structure and improve their development: planning, building, SCM, change requests...

I was wondering what would be the preferred setup for that, as I have little Z experience...
