In order to install and configure a reverse proxy, is a separate installation of IHS required?  As I understand it, IHS is a part of WAS (specifically, WAS 8.0).

Do I need install a separate server?  If so, what version is required for CLM 4.0.1?

Hi Chris,
The "Configuring IBM HTTP Server as a reverse proxy for WebSphere Application Server" topic in the information center might be helpful if you haven't seen it already.  It looks like versions 7 and 8 are supported with CLM 4.0.1.  The topic "Reverse proxy servers in topologies" also includes some example topology diagrams.

You can install al on one box.

You need three installations, all with Installation Manager.

WAS 8.0.0.x

IHS 8.0.0.x  (On WAS Supplemential disk)

IHS Plugin for WAS 8.0.0.x  (On WAS Supplemential disk)

Be sure you select Java 64bit on each of them during installation

After this you confige WAS, IHS and Plugin.

What's about the WebSphere Customization Toolbox?
I needed this to customize the Web server plugin.

I do not need this. I do all out of Websphere Admin console by configure the Environment, adding the Webserver, create a own self signed certificate for internal communication with 10 years life time and deploy the plugin out of there.

Plus manual editing in httpd.conf to add the two lines at the end, to load the plugin and point to plugin-cfg.xml.

Plus configure SSL in httpd.conf for the Client-Webserver communication.

There are a couple good articles in the Jazz.net library in regards to a reverse proxy
