IBM RMF AddOn (Requirements Management Framework)

I'm unsure if this would be the correct forum to ask but I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get more information about DOORS RMF Add-on?

I came across it last week while going through some forums regarding link traceability and all I've been able to find is the download site on IBM and the user manual. I'm looking for more information about it such as reviews, maybe videos on how it works.

You can look for IRDRMFAO or TREK to find some some more information (although with trek you will find a lot of startrek), which are former names of the tools. It seems it is even on some IBM Server available for download (according to google). Sorry I don't know a lot about the Requirements Management Framework, so I cannot say more. Regards, Mathias

Yea that's what I was afraid of, it always seems to end up back to what ive already found. Im trying to find a solution on how to create a visualization for trace analyst and so far RMF looks exactly what I was looking for but I want to get more information on it before I take it to my managers and look at getting the addon added in to test it.

I know there is also something called GraphViz or something like that but I know less about that then RMF.

Any suggestions?

We have a post here about visualizing links with graphviz:

https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/community/forums/html/topic?id=77777777-0000-0000-0000-000014846449&ps=25

This is probably a good place to start. The question is, what you exactly want to do with this? Do you want to use it for on-the-fly visualization of all links inside one module, so each developer can check out the link structure of the modules? Or do you need this for one time (or from time to time) analysis?

In the latter case I would separate the problem. You first need to extract the graph data. For this you can use the linkDump tool I posted in the above post. If you do not need instant graphs, then you can use any tool (also more intuitive ones than graphvis). And then it depends on how your visualization shall look. You get very easy results with graphvis without any knowledge, but you will need a lot of tweaking if you have a special layout in mind. But there are also lots of other tools.

I had no idea this was on the smartDXL site

this is a great place holder tool until I learn more about this RMF program.

Yea I've actually been reading that forum you posted before hand, its actually what got me looking into RMF from a screenshot that was posted on there.

Its more of a tool that developers can use to check out the link structure of the modules in the Project folders. They are having issues apparently with link traceability or something of the sort so I've been looking into possible solutions to help mediate the amount of work they will have to do. I'm also working on a side script to display all IN/OUT links from every module A-D but having issues with it also counting ghost links from deleted objects, because for some reason they don't want use to delete them (gigantic headache).

I am still new to this company but I'm doing what ever it is I can do to help out and reduce the work load. (probably could of found an easier topic to pick up instead of teaching myself dxl coding lol)

But I do appreciate the help, I've been learning a lot lately from reading yours and Louie's post on different subjects concerning DXL coding. (If im having these issues im sure someone else has the same issue)

side note the link in the forum you posted, I tried to download it and check it out but it says its invalid. Not sure if it was removed or not but just letting you know
