Need help with dialog boxes

It's been a while since I did some serious DXL programming esp using dialog boxes..so pls excuse me if this sounds like a stupid question

I wish to hve a simple DB with 3 buttons in it, say A, B, C - on clicking any of these buttons another dialog box should open up with a few more options ( DBEs in it could be radio buttons,checkboxes etc)..so my script is :

btnA callback
{
create DB
add a DBE
realize/show DB
}

main function

create mainwindow
buttnA
buttnB
buttnC
show mainwindow

When I click on buttonA it crashes..error is supposedly in the line containing the DBE..if I do not have any DBE then it shows the dialog box without any problems...any sort of a DBE - be it a button, a frame or a field results in the same problem..

In the past I have written scripts where clicking on some button in the main dialog box would open up another dialog box and have never come across this issue..am not sure what I might be missing..

What am I doing wrong??
