Since a recent thread on this forum where we automated RPE Light in DOORS 9.3 I asked myself the following:
Wouldn't it be nice for a DOORS Customer on an earlier DOORS version (like 8.2 or 9.0) to able to use the RPE Light from DOORS 9.3 (which he pays for with the normal DOORS license that would enable him to upgrade to 9.3 anytime). After all RPE is just a java program that is called from DXL over the commandline, there should be no dependency to have the DOORS 9.3 client. After all RPE already runs for earlier DOORS versions. Would this be illegal in some way? Opinions?

Ok, scratch that ... Obviously the DXL scripts of RPE light are encoded in for DOORS 9.3. Additionally they make use of special DOORS 9.3 perms. So obviously this is not possible without reencrypting (of which I am not sure if that would be legal) and major rework, so never mind. Regard, Mathias
