I am new to DOORS and DXL. I am trying to import requirements from a word document to DOORS. Requirements are present in the below format.
1.1 Requirement1
1. abc
2. def
3. xyz
1.2 Requirement2
1. abc
2. def
3. xyz
When I import them, each line in the above sample is created as a separate requirement. But I want it to be in the below format.
DOORS1 1.1 Requirement1
1. abc
2. def
3. xyz
DOORS2 1.2 Requirement2
1. abc
2. def
3. xyz
Please help me.

Re: Import issue from Word to DOORS SystemAdmin - Tue Apr 26 04:42:33 EDT 2011
The only difference that I can see between your two examples is that you want the text "DOORS1" and "DOORS2" to appear before each of the headings. The examples you have provided do not clearly show what the problem is.
What I can tell you is that every paragraph in a MSWord document will be imported as a new module object in DOORS. If you want more than one MSWord paragraph to be in one DOORS module object, you have to modify the MSWord document and replace the MSWord Paragraph Marks with Manual Line Breaks
I have attached a recent IBM Technical paper that explains the basics about how MSWord documents are imported\migrated into DOORS - this might provide some assistance with what you are trying to achieve.

The issue seems to be with the formatting of my examples. The DOORS1 and DOORS2 are to signify Doors IDs that are created after exporting.
Therefore in the input document I have bulleted points which after exporting come as separate requirements. But I want them to come as a single requirement. Below is the output I am expecting after export.
ID || Requirement
1 || 1.1.1 Requirement1
2 || 1. abc
|| 2. def
|| 3. xyz

Now I understand and the answer was in my previous post as well.
If you want the bullet points to be in the same DOORS object then you need to replace the MSWord Paragraph Marks after each bullet with a Manual Line Break
Paragraph Marks are sometimes known as Hard Returns and Manual Line Breaks are sometimes known as Soft Returns.
If you are using MSWord auto bullet numbering, you will need to remove this and apply the bullet numbering manually.
I have attached a sample MSWord document that contains a bullet list using MSWord Paragraph Marks and a bullet list using Manual Line Breaks - have a go at importing this to DOORS and see the difference.

Solved the issue by using word macros to export data into an excel file and then importing.
