I justed wanted to suggest, with all given respect, to IBM to relaunch the current 9.5 DXL reference manual as CHM. Working with the PDF is really annoying, and the online help cannot be used in the customer's environment. Not always are technical changes real improvements. From other discussions here I assume that I'm not the only one who would be happy about that... Best regards, Gerhard GerhardS - Fri Jan 10 06:03:28 EST 2014 |
Re: DXL Reference I copied the chm file from an old installation and have a link directly to it on my desktop. Except for the fact that is for an older version of DOORS than I'm running this works well enough. I also miss the old help - it was good. /sekrbo |
Re: DXL Reference Based on popular requests from many users, it is made available again from version 9.5.1 onwards. Look for dxl.chm in DOORSHOME\help directory. Accessing DXL Reference Manual via menu however still brings up the PDF.. But you have the chm file anyways..

Thanks for the tip, Sudarshan!

Cheers, Sudarshan That's a really good news, Sudarshan - thanks for the info! Regards, Gerhard
(And what did we learn? Not everything around DXL must be improved ;-)) |
Re: DXL Reference Agree the CHM vastly superior to the online help, even when it works. Doesn't seem very hard to keep one up to date; I'm thinking you could export the online into CHM format. But I do like the PDF and still have old hard copies on my desk, cleverly indexed with colored tabs, and annotated in my own special dialect of hiroglyphics. Still trying to figure out how to get my "notes" into the next version. So actually, I'm using
Yes that is strange ... but so as I am. -Louie "Not always are technical changes real improvements." Very nice. Neither is "Progress" always "Good".

(And what did we learn? Not everything around DXL must be improved ;-)) I agree.. I found using chm to be much more efficient.. You can expect the chm to be invoked from within menu options as well, from next version onwards.. Cheers, Sudarshan |
