Is it possible to start DOORS with a dedicated database?

I have access to several (3-5) DOORS databases.

For a special evaluation I would like to get data from 2 or 3 of these DBs to excel starting from excel.

In excel I have all the information available concerning the DB, module and object.

My question is, is there a possibility to start DOORS from excel via vba automatisation with the relevant DB like in the commandline with the -d <port@host> parameter?

Thank you for your support!

Hello Mathias

I've solved the problem by different batch files.

@ECHO OFF

SET windowtitle="DOORS-Test"
SET doorsclient="C:\Programme\...\doors.exe"

SET projectaddins="..."
SET addins="..."
SET layoutaddins="..."
SET attributeaddins="..."
SET defopenmode="READ_ONLY"
SET defopenlinkmode="READ_ONLY"
SET data="36677@DoorsServer"

START %windowtitle% %doorsclient%
    -defopenmode %defopenmode%
 -defopenlinkmode %defopenlinkmode%
 -addins %addins%
 -projectaddins %projectaddins%
 -layoutaddins %layoutaddins%
 -attributeaddins %attributeaddins%
 -data %data%

In this case it is the -data-Option

Best regards

Wolfgang

There is no possibility to start it without a batch file?

Hi

It depents what you are understanding unter "other possibilities". Doors reads those parameter from the comandline of from some registry keys. You can change those keys by using some APIs for the registry. But in this case you need to have local administrator priviledges.

So If you want to avoid this priviledge problem you have to use the commandline. Of course, you can use a wscript or cscript instead of a batch file them. But all of them is an encapsulated batch file.

Hi

Ok, you can use "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Telelogic\DOORS\9.5\Config" instead of "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Telelogic\DOORS\9.5\Config" and there your user priviledges are sufficient (https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/community/forums/html/topic?id=d43c725f-bd74-4c1a-88d5-51fdf8eed0b9&ps=25).

But the rest is a batch ...
