Rhapsody Model Manager 6.0.6

About the download: IBM® Installation Manager deploys a Jazz Team Server as well as the IBM Rhapsody Model Manager capabilities as part of the Design Management installation package. You can install Design Management onto its own, separate Jazz Team Server or you can install Design Management onto an existing, shared Jazz Team Server that includes the full set of Rational® solution for Collaborative Lifecycle Management (CLM) capabilities.

Rhapsody Model Manager requires a new or updated client access license for Rational Rhapsody Design Manager 6.0.6. For short evaluations, you can use the built-in Trial license keys for Rational Rhapsody Design Manager 6.0.6 which include the updated licenses.

There are three ways to install the Rhapsody Model Manager capabilities as part of the Design Management installation package with Rational Team Concert, Rational Quality Manager, and Rational DOORS Next Generation:

  • (Standard approach) In IBM Installation Manager, add both the CLM and Architecture Management repositories to the preferences, and then install the CLM and Architecture Management installation packages at the same time.
  • Install Collaborative Lifecycle Management, and then install Architecture Management into the same package group.
  • Install Architecture Management, and then install Collaborative Lifecycle Management into the same package group.

To explore the Rhapsody Model Manager capabilities, download IBM Rational Rhapsody Design Manager Servers from the compressed (.zip) files All Downloads tab. Install Rhapsody Model Manager (the Architecture Management installation package), which includes its own Jazz Team Server.

It isn't necessary to install Design Manager (the Design Management installation package). However, you can decide to install Design Manager on the same Jazz Team Server as your Rhapsody Model Manager if you have sufficient system resources. This approach can be useful if you are evaluating and exploring the features and capabilities of Rhapsody Model Manager, which is the next generation of Design Management. You might also want to try Rhapsody Model Manager with a new project.

Use Rational Rhapsody to create and edit the models hosted by Rhapsody Model Manager.

1
Plan and prepare

For known issues with this release, see the release notes.

For supported platforms and memory requirements, see the system requirements.

To get started quickly with a small deployment by using the default topology and Apache Derby databases, go to the next step and install the server. Apache Derby deployments are limited to 10 users and do not support cross-domain reports.

For advanced deployments, first read the Interactive Installation Guide to plan your deployment. Then, visit the Optional Programs page to obtain programs such as Db2® or WebSphere® Application Server.

2
Install the server and applications

To perform a web installation of the server, download the web installer for your platform (see the previous section), extract the .zip file, and start the launchpad (launchpad.bat or launchpad.sh, depending on your platform). The server includes Apache Derby to support up to 10 users. To enable more than 10 users, install Db2 or another supported database program.

If you need to install the server in an environment without access to the Internet, visit the All Downloads page, download a repository for the server and trial licenses, and install by using IBM Installation Manager.

Note: During the installation process, you have the option to install different applications. You do not have to install all of them; you can install only a subset of the applications. These options are for advanced installation scenarios, such as distributing the applications across multiple servers or deploying multiple applications of the same type within an application group.

Note: Extract the contents of the downloaded .zip files into same location and ensure that the utility does not create any sub folders during the extraction process (some utilities create new subfolders by default). If subfolders are created during this process, you cannot continue the installation and setup process.

For information about installing and managing client access licenses (CALs), see Managing client access licenses.

3
Set up the server

After the installation, complete the steps in the Jazz Team Server setup wizard, which is available at https://fully_qualified_host_name:9443/jts/setup (where fully_qualified_host_name is the domain for your server).

Additional guidance: For help with the setup wizard, see Configuring the server after the installation in IBM Documentation.

4
Install the clients

Rhapsody Model Manager provides a server-based interaction using a web browser. Models are created and edited in the Rhapsody client and loaded into a Rhapsody Model Manager project area using the Rational Team Concert Eclipse client. Download the IBM Rational Team Concert Client from the All Downloads tab.

Additional guidance: For help with installing and setting up the Rhapsody Model Manager, see Installing Rhapsody Model Manager in IBM Documentation.
