Getting started with Engineering Requirements Management DOORS Next 7.0.2

About the download: The Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM) all-in-one installer includes the option to deploy a shared Jazz Team Server and the Change and Configuration Management (CCM), Quality Management (QM), Requirements Management (RM), Architecture Management (AM), Jazz Reporting Service (JRS), and IBM Engineering Lifecycle Optimization - Engineering Insights (ENI) applications, in addition to Trial license keys for IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management products that unlock access to capabilities provided by the applications. While you can perform most tasks with a web browser, the all-in-one installer also includes options to install client tools that support advanced tasks and optimized workflows for specific roles or jobs, or tools that provide additional functions such as integrations with other systems.

IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management DOORS (DOORS) and IBM Engineering Systems Design Rhapsody (Rhapsody) are also part of the ELM solution and can be installed separately.

For more information on installing and configuring DOORS, visit these sites:

You can now install IBM Engineering Lifecycle Optimization - Publishing Document Builder (PUB DB) from the IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM) installation launchpad. PUB DB is installed into a separate package group from the ELM applications into its own installation folder with its own Liberty runtime.

1
Plan and prepare

For known issues with this release, see the release notes.

For supported platforms and requirements, see the system requirements.

2
Install the server and applications

To perform a web installation of the server, download the web installer for your platform (see the previous section), extract the .zip file, and start the launchpad (launchpad.bat or launchpad.sh, depending on your platform). The server includes Apache Derby to support up to 10 users. To enable more than 10 users, install IBM Db2 or another supported database program.

If you need to install the server in an environment without Internet access, visit the All Downloads page, download a repository for the server and trial licenses, and install by using IBM Installation Manager.

Note: During the installation process, you have the option to install different applications. You do not have to install all of them: you can install only a subset of the applications. These options are for advanced installation scenarios, such as distributing the applications across multiple servers or deploying multiple applications of the same type within an application group.

For information about installing and managing client access licenses, see Managing client access licenses.

3
Set up the server

After the installation, complete the steps in the Jazz Team Server setup wizard, which is available at https://fully_qualified_host_name:9443/jts/setup (where fully_qualified_host_name is the domain for your server).

Additional guidance: For help with the setup wizard, see Running the setup wizard in the product documentation.

4
Install the clients

You can perform most tasks with a web browser. The client tools support advanced tasks and optimized workflows for specific roles or jobs, or provide additional functions such as integrations with other systems.
