Rational Team Concert 3.0 Release Candidate 1 Milestone
Rational Team Concert 3.0 RC1 "New and Noteworthy"
In the Rational Team Concert 3.0 RC1 release candidate, there are a number of important changes since RC0 (Beta 2).
Rational Team Concert-specific install
In previous 3.0 milestones, Rational Team Concert shared a single, common install with Rational Quality Manager and Rational DOORS Requirements Professional. This install deployed a Jazz Team Server and the Change and Configuration Management, Quality Management and Requirements Management applications along with a set of trial licenses for multiple products. The licenses permitted access to capabilities provided by the applications.
Rational Team Concert 3.0 RC1 employs this same new architecture but the install now includes only those components needed for delivering the functionality of Rational Team Concert. Specifically, the Jazz Team Server and the Change and Configuration Management application along with trial licenses for Rational Team Concert. Lifecycle Project Administration and support for Rational Reporting for Development Intelligence have also been removed. These changes reflect the development plans described in CLM Project Update - Staging the CLM Deliverables.
In line with these packaging changes, Collaborative Lifecycle Management (CLM) will be enabled through the use of Rational Team Concert 3.0 with Rational Quality Manager 2.0.1 and Rational Requirements Composer 220.127.116.11. We have authored a new CLM Testing Scenario for RTC 3.0, RQM 2.x.x and RRC 2.x.x.x that can be used to test this functionality with Rational Team Concert 3.0 RC1 and the latest releases of Rational Quality Manager 2.0.x and Rational Requirements Composer 2.0.0.x.
Alignment with Rational Quality Manager 3.0 M10
After the release of Rational Team Concert 3.0, future milestones of Rational Team Concert along the path to CLM 2011 will include the other applications and components that were previously included with Rational Team Concert 3.0 RC0 (Beta 2). In the meantime you can use Rational Quality Manager 3.0 M10 and follow one of the many test scenarios to try out the CLM story that is planned for mid-2011.
RQM 3.0 M10 includes the same Jazz Team Server and Change and Configuration Management application delivered in RTC 3.0 RC1 and it includes trial licenses for Rational Team Concert. Hence RQM 3.0 M10 can be used to test the latest Rational Team Concert code as of this release candidate. Additionally, the optional tools included with RTC 3.0 RC1 such as the IDE-based clients, build system toolkit and synchronizers, can be used with RQM 3.0 M10.
