Configuration management information and activation
To learn how to use the latest configuration management and global configuration management capabilities, see these resources:
- Read the Workflow for using global configurations help topic
- Read the Workflow for using configurations help topic
- Watch the Introduction to configuration management video, which is part of a larger video series
- Try the configuration management capabilities in an existing cloud sandbox
- Evaluate the capabilities in your own environment: download the release, read the considerations, and obtain an activation key
Test Statistics widget
A new Test Statistics dashboard widget is available in the catalog. You can use this widget to show the results of any saved test artifact query in a graphical format, such as in bar charts, pie charts, column charts, and tables.
New Copy Project Properties utility
You can use the new Copy Project Properties utility to copy project properties to a different project area (see Manage Project Properties). The new utility is a stand-alone Java application that copies project properties from an existing source project area to a different destination project area on the same or different Rational Quality Manager server. The new Copy Project Properties utility is packaged on the Rational Quality Manager server and replaces the Copy Project Settings utility.
Basic bidirectional (bidi) support
Basic bidirectional (bidi) support (such as support for base text direction and non-Gregorian calendars) is available in Rational Quality Manager 6.0. The display of entered data is based on user-set globalization preferences. One limitation remains when Rational Quality Manager data is exported in PDF format, and text is rendered from left to right. Work on the PDF export function is tracked in Work item 119150.
New optional arguments in the Rational Quality Manager execution tool
You can use two new optional arguments in the execution tool, for both command-line and ANT tasks.
-buildRecord=<web ID of the Build Record>
: The web ID of the build record that must be linked to the test case result that was created when the test case execution record ran.
-suiteBuildRecord=<web ID of the Build Record>
: The web ID of the build record that must be linked to the test suite result and test case result that were created when the test suite execution record ran.
Usability improvements
Synchronizing back links for deleted and duplicated test plans and test cases
- Test plans
When you delete a test plan, back links are removed from linked requirement collections or development plans. Likewise, when you restore a test plan, back links are re-added to the previously linked requirement collections or development plans.
When you duplicate a test plan, back links to the duplicated test plan are added to the linked requirement collections or development plans.
- Test cases
When you delete a test case, back links are removed from linked requirements or development items. Likewise, when you restore a test case, back links are re-added to the previously linked requirements or development items.
When you duplicate a test case, back links to the duplicated test case are added to the linked requirements or development items.
Querying all values for filters
When you construct queries or filters in table views, you can now select all the values that are available for certain filters.
Specifying the default sort order for table columns
Previously, you had to click a table column once to sort it in ascending order, and then click it a second time to sort it in descending order. You can now specify the default sort order for table columns.
Generating test case execution records
When you generate test case execution records by selecting test cases in a test plan and then using the wizard, you previously had to save the test plan to generate the test case execution records. Now, when you generate test case execution records, the test plan is saved automatically, which eases the workflow for assigning tests.
Licensing
Rational License Key Server lmgrd.log file output is different in 6.0
In version 6.0, the output of the Rational License Key Server lmgrd.log file includes the client access license (CAL) role type. For details, see the Collaborative Lifecycle Management New & Noteworthy page.
CLM Server Monitoring permanent and term licenses available in 6.0
In version 6.0, permanent and term authorized user licenses are available for CLM Server Monitoring. When you generate a permanent or term authorized user license or floating license for a CLM product from the License Key Center, the license includes the CLM Server Monitoring authorized user license. For details, see the Collaborative Lifecycle Management New & Noteworthy page.
Token license packaging in 6.0
Because of issues with generating both 5.0 and 6.0 token licenses from the License Key Center (the license generator would time out and no licenses were generated), version 5.0 licenses are no longer generated when you generate 6.0 token licenses. The only exception is for Rational DOORS 9.6 customers, where 5.0 and 6.0 token client access licenses (CALs) are generated for Rational DOORS Next Generation Analyst and Rational DOORS Next Generation Contributor. All other licenses are generated for version 6.0 only. For version 5.0 token licenses, contact IBM Support.
