Rational Quality Manager 3.0 Beta 3
Rational Quality Manager 3.0 Beta 3 Release Notes
The following notes detail issues in the Rational Quality Manager 3.0 Beta 3 milestone (March 28, 2011) that users and consumers of Rational Quality Manager should be aware of. Please ensure that you also read the Jazz Foundation 3.0.1 Beta 3 Release Notes.
The URL for the Rational Quality Manager server is now https://host:9443/qm/web/console.
Enterprise Platforms
The server for z/OS is not available in this milestone. It will be made available in a future milestone.
The server for IBM i is not available as a LICPGM package. It will be made available in a future milestone. This milestone includes a plain zip version of the server for for IBM i. To install trial licenses for this plain zip server install, download the matching trial licenses zip so that the /server/conf/jts tree in the zip overlaps with the same directory tree in the server zip.
Upgrade
Upgrading to Rational Quality Manager 3.0 Beta 3 is supported from Rational Quality Manager 2.x and from M13.
See Upgrading for detailed instructions.
If your migrated data contains workitem-based requirements, see Migrating work item-based requirements for instructions on migrating them to the Requirements Management component.
Note that there is a defect in Beta 3 in which the install panel for "Context Root Options" may not show the options to reuse either the Rational Team Concert 2.x, Rational Quality Manager 2.x or Rational Requirements Composer 2.x context root. The workaround for this defect is to install only the server (Jazz Team Server and CCM, QM and RM applications) first and then install the license keys in a second install pass. This defect, 159692: Install: Option to select (RTC, RQM, RRC) context root for 2.x is not available, will be fixed in Release Candidate 1.
Configuring Tomcat as a Windows service on a 64-bit platform
If you intend to run the Tomcat application server on a 64-bit platform, see this related technote.
User assistance
The online help does not get installed correctly when users only install Quality Management (QM) on the server. This results in the following error message:
Unable to open the help contents of the Information Center. Please verify that the Information Center is installed and running.
To correct this situation, you must edit the services.xml file. See Configuring the location of the help in a distributed environment.
Also, RSS feeds are not always displayed.
Open issues with reporting
Note the following open issues:
- Not all reports have been migrated to include the latest schema changes. As a result, some reports show empty results or incorrect parameters.
- There is a failure when running QM ETL jobs. As a result, the qm-etl.log shows HTTP response code 413 errors. To prevent this failure from occurring, the user running the Quality Manager ETL jobs must be a member of all project areas on the server and have a role that contains the XML Export permission.
- ETLs might fail because of an issue with UTF-8 strings in the reporting JDBC driver: XDC does not consider multi-byte usage of UTF-8 for VARCHAR. See XDC does not consider multi-byte usage of UTF-8 for VARCHAR 46516
- Some fields in Execution Step Result and Test Suite might not be ETL'ed correctly: Remove UTF-8 issue workarounds from ETL. See Remove UTF-8 issue workarounds from ETL 47324

Integration with Rational RequisitePro
The RequisitePro project connections are now displayed in a new RequisitePro tab in the administration page (https://server/qm/admin), rather than in the project properties dialog. After you create a project connection, you can associate individual RQM projects to it in the project area editor.
The prerequisite versions of Rational RequisitePro for RQM 3.0 integration are 7.1.1.5 and 7.1.2.2. You can download these versions at RequisitePro 7.1.1.5 download and RequisitePro 7.1.2.2 download.
In addition, the requirement type filters that are visible in the RequisitePro tab of the project area editor do not have any effect in this release. This functionality will be provided in a later RQM offering.
Off-line execution
When you execute a manual test script off-line, the Excel document will not display any attachments associated with the steps of the manual test script. Therefore, you need to open the manual test script editor and download any step attachments before taking the script off-line.
