Guided tours and samples

Guided tours

Document Studio now provides guided tours to help you quickly build and generate documents for data sources such as Rational DOORS and Rational DOORS Next Generation. The tours can be launched from the Help menu. Simply follow the steps in the Guide view for the tour that you choose. See the tours in action by watching this demo.

New sample assets

New sample assets are available for report designers to use, for example templates, snippets, scripts, and style sheets. The sample assets are designed to work with specific data sources, for example Rational DOORSŪ or Rational Quality Manager. Cross-product traceability sample templates are also included. See how administrators can generate the sample assets and report designers can use the samples to build and generate documents.

Document Studio

Drag and drop Jazz Reporting Service graphs onto templates

You can now drag and drop charts from Report Builder onto a template in Document Studio. The resulting template and document specification is automatically configured with the REST URL, credentials, and authentication type. Watch a demo of creating a template by dragging a JRS graph .

Support for math equations

You can now add mathematical equations (for example quadratic formulas) to your documents. Simply write the mathematical equation with the MathML markup language and then add it as a script expression in your template. Watch a demo of including math equations in a document.

Support for component information

You can now generate configuration-aware documents from components. Components make it easier to create versions and variants of a product or system by reusing its parts. See this demo on how to generate a document using the component attribute in Rational DOORS Next Generation .

JavaScript enhancements

In Document Studio, the JavaScript editor now includes line marking, syntax coloring and content assist. You can also add the JavaScript as a reference link in the template. You can also work with JavaScript assets in Document Builder on the Scripts tab of the Design page. See how working with JavaScript assets is easier in Document Studio and Document Builder.

Document Builder (2.x Web Services)

Monitoring and controlling document generation jobs

Administrators can manage document generation jobs that are currently running on the server by pausing, resuming, or cancelling jobs in Document Builder. Watch a demo of managing document generation jobs .

Usability improvements

You can expand and collapse the navigation sidebar, select all items in a list, expand and collapse all groups of tagged assets, and select multiple templates and create a report from them. See the usability enhancements in Document Builder .
