Before you upgrade
For a list of changes to the installation and upgrade process, see CLM and IoT CE 6.0.3 Installation and Upgrade Notes.
If you plan to upgrade to this release, be aware of the following issues:
- You can upgrade to this release from any version 5 or version 6 release.
- If the CLM applications to upgrade are co-located in the same WebSphere Application Server profile, on WebSphere Liberty, or on Apache Tomcat, you must upgrade all the applications at the same time.
- Starting in 6.0.3, the CLM and IoT CE applications are built with and must run with Java 7.1:
- If you use WebSphere Liberty or Apache Tomcat as your application server, the bundled JRE is already IBM Java 7.1 SR3 FP40.
- If you use WebSphere Application Server, you must ensure that you have the correct version of the application server and the JRE:
- You must use WebSphere Application Server 8.5.5.2 or later. For details, see Work Item 395554.
- You must use IBM Java 7.1 SR3 FP40 or later. For instructions, see Switching to Java 7.0 SDK in WebSphere Application Server and Installing IBM WebSphere SDK Java Technology Edition Version 7.0 or 7.1 using the GUI.
- If you use WebSphere Liberty or Apache Tomcat as your application server, the bundled JRE is already IBM Java 7.1 SR3 FP40.
- On IBM i, if you upgrade from a version 5 release to 6.0.3, the upgrade takes longer than previous upgrades because the database includes structural changes to support new features.
- If you use Lifecycle Query Engine for reporting, you must reindex your application data sources after you upgrade to version 6.0.3.
- If you are upgrading from 6.0.1 or earlier versions to 6.0.3, you must reindex the following application data sources after the upgrade:
- Rational DOORS Next Generation
- Rational Team Concert
- Rational Quality Manager
- Design Management
- Global Configuration Management
- If you are upgrading from 6.0.2 to 6.0.3, you must reindex the following application data sources after the upgrade:
- Rational DOORS Next Generation
- Rational Team Concert
- Design Management

Change and Configuration Management, Quality Management, and Requirements Management applications
If you are upgrading any of the Change and Configuration Management (CCM), Quality Management (QM), and Requirements Management (RM) applications from version 5.0 and later, see Upgrading to version 6.0.3. If you are upgrading from a version 4 release, first upgrade to a version 5 release, preferably the latest 5.0.x release. For more information, see Upgrading from version 4 to the current version.
Note the following known upgrade issue:
- Link Index Provider: The upgrade script for the Link Index Provider (LDX) does not report results and does not create a log file. The script performs the upgrade, but does not show any results. For more information, see Work Item 374873.
