Getting started with Rational solution for Collaborative Lifecycle Management 2012 Mod Pack 1

About the download: The Rational solution for Collaborative Lifecycle Management (CLM) all-in-one installer includes the option to deploy a shared Jazz Team Server and the Change and Configuration Management (CCM), Quality Management (QM), and Requirements Management (RM) applications, and trial licenses for Rational Team Concert, Rational Quality Manager, and Rational Requirements Composer that unlock access to capabilities provided by the applications. While you can perform most tasks with a web browser, the all-in-one installer also includes options to install client tools that support advanced tasks and optimized workflows for specific roles or jobs, or tools that provide additional functions such as integrations with other systems. These include clients for the Eclipse integrated development environment (IDE) and the and Microsoft Visual Studio IDE, a Windows shell integration to perform Jazz source control operations from Windows Explorer, and synchronizers for synchronizing with Rational ClearCase and Rational ClearQuest.

1
Plan and prepare

For known issues with this release, see the release notes.

For supported platforms and requirements, see the system requirements.

To get started quickly with a small deployment using the default topology and Apache Derby databases, proceed to the next step and install the server. Apache Derby deployments are limited to 10 users and do not support cross-domain reports.

For advanced deployments, first read the Interactive Installation Guide to plan your deployment. Then, visit the Optional Programs page to obtain programs such as DB2®, WebSphere® Application Server, and Rational® Reporting for Development Intelligence.

For advanced enterprise deployments that require high availability with automatic failover, clustering for high availability is possible. Read more about clustering in the High Availability with Rational solution for CLM 2012 Clustering article and the Setting up a clustered environment information center topic.

Upgrading: If you plan to upgrade an existing deployment, see the Upgrading page.

2
Install the server and applications

To perform a web installation of the server, download the Web Installer for your platform (see the previous section), extract the .zip file, and start the launchpad (launchpad.exe or launchpad.sh, depending on your platform). The server includes Apache Derby to support up to 10 users. To enable more than 10 users, install DB2 or another supported database program.

If you need to install the server in an environment without access to the Internet, visit the All Downloads page, download a repository for the server and trial licenses, and install by using IBM Installation Manager.

Note: During the installation process, you have the option to install different applications. You do not have to install all of them; you can install only a subset of the applications. These options are for advanced installation scenarios such as distributing the applications across multiple servers or deploying multiple applications of the same type within an application group.

For information about installing and managing client access licenses (CALs), see Managing client access licenses.

3
Set up the server

After the installation, complete the steps in the Jazz Team Server setup wizard, which is available at https://fully_qualified_host_name/jts/setup (where fully_qualified_host_name is the domain for your server).

Additional guidance: For help with the setup wizard, see Running the setup wizard in the online help.

4
Install clients

You can perform most tasks with a web browser. The client tools support advanced tasks and optimized workflows for specific roles or jobs, or provide additional functions such as integrations with other systems.

To edit graphic requirements artifacts, you must install browser add-ons for Requirements Management. For more information, see RM Browser Add-On Installation FAQ and Troubleshooting Guide. Note that you must assign a specific license to the user who edits graphic requirements.
