My DOORS module has a couple of tables that were copied from a Word document into a single Object. They show up fine in DOORS and I can edit them easily enough, but when I try and export the module to DOORS as a final document, the tables lose all of their formatting. They aren't placed into the Word document as a table, just text separated by tabs. I've been able to correct this by creating the table in Word, saving that doc and then adding it into DOORS as an OLE object. Is this the only way to get this to look correct? Or is there some other way to export without needing to create the OLE object?
Secondly, we typically place captions on the pictures and table in our documents using the built in Word captioning ability. The way were set them up is with the section number included in the caption (for example: a figure in section 4 would have the caption "Figure 4-1: Caption text"). I've messed around with the Paragraph Styles attirbute in DOORS and that works to change the text format for the captions, but it doesn't correctly set the section and caption number. Also, the captions aren't listed in the Table of Figures at the start of the document. Is this even possible with the standard array of DOORS exports?
Thanks!

You should be able to line up a DOORS "Paragraph Style" with a particular Word style that you have previously set up in a Word Template, and you are using that template when exporting to Word. I'm pretty sure that your Caption text will need to be in its own object. If you have done that then you have an MS-Word problem. You should start a new Word document based on that template and try to make the captions work, without any DOORS intervention.
As for your boarders, I'm guessing that you should 'edit' the OLE containing the table and then mindfully adjust its boarders display. Perhaps the default in one context is to show the boarders and the default in the other is not to show them.

The "Paragrach Style" attribute works to make the caption bold, centered, etc., but is there any way to automate the numbering of the caption?
In Word, I can create a caption (i.e. Figure 4-1) and Word will automatically number it for me. Is it at all possible to do that in DOORS, or will I have to manually number and cross-reference my figures and tables?
I'm still new to DOORS and we've been doing things so long in Word and Excel that making the transition is proving difficult for some.

If you mean auto-caption in DOORS, then no.
It may be tolerable to have your hard-coded captions start with each 3rd level of DOORS, so perhaps your first few captions labels would be:
1.2.2-1
1.4.3-1
3.0-1
3.1.1-1
3.1.1-2
This way your existing captions will rarely change when you insert a new caption.
Or just forgo the numbering all together:
Figure "Identify UFO Thresholds"
Figure "Classify UFOs"
Then there is no renumbering needed at all.

Thanks!
I was beginning to figure that might be the case. I think removing the number altogether is porbably the best method. Thanks again.
