DOORS protocol between DOORS rich client and DOORS DBMS

I've seen some other threads on this stating that the protocol is propriatary and undocumented? Anyone have anymore details? The connection between the client and server is TCP/IP based? using RPC ? or something else?

This question crops up every now and again and as far as I know, none of three past and present owners of DOORS (QSS, Telelogic and now IBM) have ever released any details about the protocol it uses between Server and Clients. Some clues can be obtained from reading the DOORS API manual where there is the odd snippet of reference to the DOORS protocol - if you don't have a copy of the API Manual, click here to download one, you'll need to search the web page for "API".

A couple folks have managed to write a program to crudely communicate with the DBMS but I'm pretty sure they are not going to share the details, and rightfully so. Chances of database corruptions are huge and there are other dangers.
