import exported .zip file (bunch of dsf and rtf files)

I have a zip files which inside there is several rft files and dsf files. Theoretically this information is coming from and export DOORS action.

I want to import this information to my DOORS system and I do not have anyway way to do it.

I am really new at DOORS project so it is possible that this is something really easy to do but I do not find the way.

Could you help me on how import this information to DOORS system?

Thank you!!

A DOORS archive would be either a .dma (module archive) or .dpa (project archive) file.
A DOORS partition would be a .par file.
A DOORS RIF export would be a .xml file.

I am not sure what you have, but it doesn't sound like any sort of DOORS export.

Hi,

for rtf files, it is easy :
create a new formal module, open it, then menu :
File / Import / Rich text Format

for dsf files ????, not an export from DOORS.

Could your dsf files be Borland C++ or Turbo Pascal Project Desktop Settings Files?

I think DOORS only understands
dma
dpa
dua
as archive file types.

After Google-ing dsf, it could be
PC-TRUST Document Signer (Extension means file is signed)

I found a very interesting thing:

....If you want to export/import module from/to DOORS you can use eXhange tool.
eXcange tool create one .zip file from one DOORS module.
That .zip file contains one .dsf file.

Hi

Can you tell me where to get this exchange tool? I have just had a zip file sent to me with a .dsf in in and want to know how I can import it into my DOORS Db

Thanks

This was on Oct 16, 2011 with no answer, which makes me feel that this issue that I am having is not new.

Please can you give me some information about this eXhange tool?

Thank you!!

The exchange tool was once available from the IBM Rational consulting services in Germany. I'm not sure of it's general availability outside of that region - you would need to contact a Rational sales/services team to determine if you can get access and what guidelines may be required - it may require Rational consulting services to get access to the tool if it is even available at this time.

Not to contradict anything that sammyc said, but we have one project in our organisation using a tool called XML eXchange Manager. I don't know if this is the same tool as is mentioned in that other thread, as I don't use it myself and I don't have access to the exchanged data.

This tool appears to be from a third-party supplier called CCC Systems Engineering Suisse GmBH, according to its 'About' box. Enquiring there might help.

But if it was made using some sort of tool that is not DOORS standard, the group that provided the zip file to you should be able to tell you what they used to generate it.

Hi Sammy,

the eXchange solution is still and worldwide available (local purchase) - not only in Germany.

Here are some information about:

The professional services team of IBM Rational in Germany is able to provide a solution which allows data exchange between different versions (e.g. 8.x to 9.x and vice versa). The solution called "IBM Rational DOORS Data Exchange Add-On" (also known as eXchange) was developped for the German automotive industry where the need for data exchange - especially between OEM and suppliers - is tremendous. The "Data Exchange Add-On" does not only transfer data between different DOORS databases (probably having different versions), it also supports a certain data exchange process making sure that data can only be modified in one of the involved databases.

The main features of the "IBM Rational DOORS Data Exchange Add-On" are:

+ Transfer DOORS modules from OEM to (multiple) supplier(s)
+ View-based
+ Allows transfer of write access on dedicated „supplier attributes“
+ Data transfer between different DOORS versions

+ Return feedback from supplier(s) to OEM
+ Feedback either in „supplier attributes“ or in separate DOORS modules

+ Update DOORS modules in both directions
+ Modifications are highlighted when updating

+ Export existing baseline and recreate it in other database
+ Different versions for different suppliers

The eXchange asset produces a .zip-file, in this .zip-file there is a .dsf-file.
So having a .dsf-file implicates the usage of the IBM Rational DOORS Data Exchange Add On.

A .dsf-file indicates the usage of the asset IBM Rational DOORS Data Exchange Add On (short: eXchange).
