I am currently working in Rational DOORS. Its installed in a Linux Box. I want to take backup of the DOORS Database in the Linux end without bringing DOORS down. Is there anyway to perform this action?

Do you want to backup all the data or are you content with missing some.

Do you want to backup all the data or are you content with missing some.
Tell the individual projects to carry out project archives for their own use.
Have a system where you have one data server per big project
If the project forget to archive then you can use a live backup. If you are anything like my client's organisation then nightly backups of all servers are carried out and these can be used in an emergency. Better to switch off, but people work late, metrics need to be run etc so this is not always possible.
Use a local DOORS server to test
Stop the local DOORS service
Get the backed up data from the backup transferred to the data directory of the DOORS Server to be ,but only copy across the top level folders – this is important. Specifically: Copy the v6data, conf and hierarchy folders and none of the top level files
The correct location of the data directory can be read and/or changed using the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Telelogic\DOORS_Server\9.2\Config\ServerData registry key.
Switch on the local DOORS service
Verify everything is OK
Simply switching off the DOORS service then copying the top level directories, but none of the top level files works. This was found by intelligent guesswork though and is probably not to be recommended, but if it works it works!
If happy repeat for the real area!
So you don't have to bring the server down to take a server backup, best practice if you do though!

Note, I have only used the above technique to rescue a few modules with their links. I have not rolled back a whole database, I recommend doing the same to be safe.
