Table Attributes

Hi,

Using  1 module to hold requirements for several projects as 90-95% of the requirements are the same across each of the projects. Have done this by setting up an attribute as a flag for each requirement that indicates whether or not the requirement is applicable to the project or not.

Problem is, we have several tables in the specification. At the moment, I cannot apply the same flag to the table without going into Table Properties and selecting the attribute in the Attribute tab. The table then shows the attribute (flag) in each cell of the table. I could go thru and set each cell for the specific project, but this would take considerable time. In all cases, either the whole table is applicable or not.

Is there some way that I can set the attribute once for the entire table as though it was one object? Or set the attribute once and have the attribute for each cell in the table set automatically?

Thanks in advance for your feedback/assistance

Mark

Mark, if you select multiple objects (shift click) then you can set an attribute value for all the selected objects, alternatively you can set an attribute value for all displayed objects and make use of filters.

Edit Object Properties, from the menus, right click, or CTRL+E and when you edit the attribute value there should be a checkbox for selected objects, and another for displayed objects.

Wow, didn't right click used to cancel your selection! Wonder when this was changed :)

That's why I always used (and tought people to use) <Ctrl>-E

Now I am not so sure - I always use CTRL+E.  I thought there was an option to use right click, but maybe I am misremembering.

No, I just tried the right-click on a 9.5.0.1, and it works fine. The selection remains. But, I'm sure this was not the case when I began using DOORS!

You should avoid DOORS tables like the plague - they are the devil's work. No, I'm not kidding. Do not use DOORS tables.

Thanks Bill, you said what we were all thinking :-)

Hi Bill, yep couldn't agree more. Unfortunately it is a legacy that I have inherited from an inexperienced user base. I just needed a temporary workaround while I try and convince them to move forward without using tables. Sometimes it can be difficult to teach old dogs new tricks.
