Using DOORS 9.5 and previous versions for 3 years, does a script exists that allows a user when saving a view to save the last complete list of filters with it ? Frequently I find myself creating a number of complex filters (some of which I would like to use more than once without recreating them). I can save the view as current selection with the last filter applied. However, the rest of the entries in the Advanced Options Rules Listbox is cleared. I find it baffling why such a mature product as DOORS does not have the ability to create, load, save, and reuse filter lists, regardless of the view you are using. As of now you can only save the view with a filter applied. It would seem from the outside, that not clearing the List box when the filtering menu is closed, and providing a radio button on the form to preserve the existing filter list when the view is saved would be relatively straight forward to implement. If such a script to store and reuse filters does exist please direct me to the source. Thanks... Rhody...

Re: Saved Advanced Filter's List Yes and no... A filter must be saved as part of a view and only 1 filter is saved per view (can be as simple or complicated as you like) but you can save a view that contains only a filter (and disregards the attributes in the view) so that you can apply that filter on top of any other view. The easiest way is to create this type of "filter only" view is to create your filter, then go to View and 'save as', go to the Advanced tab and deselect all then save it with a new name (make it so you can easily identify it as a view containing filter only, eg: "Filter-Approved Requirements"). To test it, go to some other view then select the filter view from the view pulldown list and voila, the filter is applied onto your existing view (switch views and filter is still applied until you switch it off or open a view with a different stored filter).... |
