hide object numbers

Is there a way to hide the Object Numbers in a Module?

I import requirements from a Word Document. The Word Document has its own hierarchy and numbering.

In DOORS, currently, I see the Object number at every Object that has a heading. It don't want the object numbers to be shown. Is there a way to do this?

Hi,
You can't stop DOORS Object numbers from being displayed in the main column. You are better off stripping out the word numbering because it will not auto update once inside DOORS (the DOORS numbers will). Fortunately you can strip these numbers off very easily during the 'Export to DOORS' process. Just select the tick option on the Export dialog.

You may be able to meet your objectives by changing Object Heading to Object Text while keeping the same hierarchical structure. This would remove DOORS imposed Objects Numbers in main column.

But of course the impact from doing this, may be more than your are willing to absorb.

If you strip off the Heading numbers in DOORS by converting to Object Text - which is one way to do it - then you will be left with a flat list of objects that do not have any hierarchy.

I am going to guess that the problem is that your Word document has the headings as text rather than using Word heading styles. On the import you then end up with 2 numbers - the DOORS headings and your original heading numbers.

It would be better to change the Word version to use autonumbering. This means that both Word and DOORS are synchronised, as Auto-numbered section numbers are always ignored on the import.

Note that on any import the auto-numbering produced by DOORS may be different from the auto-numbering in the original document so always remove any heading cross references first.

All,

Why not just answer his question?

Remove the main column.

Add columns Object Heading and Object Text.

Now, he may have heirarchy problems, but that's not what he asked. He simply didn't want to see the object number....
