I want to create a new module with a starting point of the exact contents of an existing module. I need the new module to not contain any of the existing baselines (easy) but starting at version 0.1. If I use Copy | Paste Special, I get the attached form which, as you can see, I have filled out to copy all views, objects, attribute definitions and types (I don't want the links). Under each Select button I have selected all attributes and types. However, on completion, only the Object headings and text are copied. I thought maybe it was because the "Objects with object heading" check box was checked, but I can't uncheck this as it automatically re-checks itself when I check the "All objects" check box.
I've also tried by creating a new module and using an archive of the existing module as a template - and also just Copy | Paste. But both of these methods starts from the current b/l of version 1.0 which is not what I want. I'm sure I used to be able to do this in an older version of DOORS, but whatever I did (it was infrequent and has been lost from my memory) no longer works.
Any ideas ? I can resolve this a long-winded way by copying the contents over afterwards, but that sort of defeats the object (pun intended).

Re: Create module using Copy | Paste Special Similar to situation -- someone else has same problem and it appears they do not have enough user permissions. See if you can get partition or better and try. |

See if you can get partition or better and try. Hi DOORSHAM, without actually creating any partitions, I certainly seem to have the ability to do so. My account is of type; Database Manager and all Powers check boxes are checked (so it says I can crate and use Partitions). |

For the module you working with are your permission because of being a member of a group or are you listed by user id. A guess is that IBM has changed permissions with later versions of DOORS. I have notice on some modules I get different outcomes. |

I'm not sure where you're going with this, as it doesn't seem to be an access issue, more a Copy|Paste issue. |

I am assuming you mean no additional attributes are copied beside object heading and object text when you say: However, on completion, only the Object headings and text are copied.
For some module it works for me some it doesn't -- haven't spent enough time to figure out the details but if IBM messed up the permissions it probably will not be solveable without IBM involvement.
Someone else might figure out a solution but for you and me it isn't obvious yet - so with no one else to blame, lets blame IBM.
See where I am going with this. |
