Archiving DOORS module

Hi All,

I am trying to archive DOORS modules from version 8.2. I am not able to archive one module and I get the following messages:

1. When I select "Archive all baselines" (default) - error message "Output file write failure, possible disk full". This message comes up even if I select "Span disks".
2. When I select "do not archive any baselines" - error message "Invalid combination of Multi-volume control parameters".

Has anyone experienced this error while archiving the modules? What is the reason and work around for the same?

Thanks in advance

The 'span disks' option is a relic leftover from the days we used 3.5" floppy disks and large zip files had to be spanned over a number of floppy disks. I suggest to untick this option.
The error messages are most likely due to lack of space at the location you are tying to create the archive, or some windows permissions problem preventing DOORS from writing to that area.
Hope that help,
Andrew

you did not mention if you had the Archive on Server checkbox. This only appears if it has been set up for server archives by adding a new entry in the registry.

If not then it is most likely cause will be a lack of room on the target location. -Even a decent size project will require Gbytes.

You can only archive either a whole project or a module. So one possible way is to partition your project into smaller chunks by using project folders rather than normal folders. It all depends on how you have structured your projects and where the link modules are located. If you want to have the links in the restored project then you do need to include them in the .dpa.

Also purge deleted modules and folders as these get copied; and of course purging your modules and then baselining will reduce the size ( as long as the baseline option is not ticked !).
