Maybe this is obvious to everyone but me, but I cannot figure out (and the DOORS 8.2 documentation is no help) how to associate a link attribute with a link. I have created the attribute, but when I create or edit a link, there seems to be no way of adding the link attribute to the link.
Thanks,
Ken.

Create your links.
Edit Object Property of SOURCE Object of Link. Choose Links tab.
Click the link. Choose "Details...".
Choose Attribute, click "Edit...".
There you go. Intuitive and obvious, isn't it?

My new attribute doesn't appear in the Link properties window (only the defualts appear). How do I tell DOORS which attributes are link attributes?
Thanks,
Ken.

Create the link attribute in the open-edit Link-module, not the formal module housing the objects.

Aha! Now that you point this out, it seems obvious that it should be done in the link module; however, this is not stated in the documentation. It merely states that you have to have "the module" open in exclusive edit. Since the previous section is discussing the source object module, then I assumed that this was the same. It seem like an omission not to explicitly state that it is in the link module; may be worth an email to IBM...
Now, when I edit the source object outlink properties, I can see the link attribute, but I can't edit it. The Edit button is not sensitized, even though I have RMCDA rights to the object, link module, and link attribute. I can of course modify this in the link module, but I don't want general users editing the link module. What gives?
Many thanks,
Ken.

Editing thru the link module works, but editing thru the source module does not. I cannot get past step 7; the Edit button is never sensitized, even for the Administrator...
BTW this is an awesome document!
Thanks,
Ken.

IBM responded to my PMR that the source module needs to be open in exclusive edit. It was only in shared edit with the object locked. I am in the process of opening an RFE to request that it be possible in shared edit.
Thanks to everyone for their suggestions.

You can modify the link-attr in a locked section using DXL: lnk."MyLinkAttr" = "Yes". Its just that the GUI has that button gray'd out. That's more of a 'bug' then a needed 'enhancement'.
